Dogwise - online book store		Dogwise is an online resource for books about dogs. Most if not all the books I recommend are found on this site.
Whole Dog Journal - magazine		Whole Dog Journal is a superior monthly publication that is well known for its holistic approach to health and nutrition. It also publishes annual ratings of the top dog foods - dry, canned, frozen etc. - as well as product reviews for all kinds of things, from equipment and toys to fancy dog beds and was ranked #11 in the Chicago Tribune's annual list of "50 Best Magazines" in the U.S.

K9 Kitchen Your Dog' Diet: The Truth Behind the Hype - Monica Segal		This book focuses primarily on cooked and raw food diets. It has excellent explanations of a variety of essential nutrients and supplements and includes sample diets. In addition, she has set up an excellent yahoo group called k9 Kitchen to help folks put together healthful diets for all kinds of health problems including cancer.

Holistic Guide to a Healthy Dog - Wendy Volhard & Kerry Brown		The Volhards were the first people who introduced me to the concepts of holistic care and better nutrition for our pets. This book is a terrific starter guide to better care for your pet.
Vaccination Information In the past veterinarians recommended annual vaccinations based on labeling by vaccine manufacturers not scientific data. There has been significant evidence to suggest over vaccination has adversely affected the health of many, many pets and that immunity may last much, much longer than one year, possibly as much as seven years. Dr. Ronald Schultz has been at the forefront of vaccine research and has been warning of over vaccination for 30 years. He and his colleagues suspect vaccines not only have harmful side effects, they last much longer than manufacturers indicate. Dr. Jean Dodds and her organization Hemopet has been researching this and other blood related health disorders, especially those dealing with thyroid issues. In recent years the AVMA changed their recommendations on vaccination protocols, it's important to talk to your vet to determine the core vaccines necessary for your pet.
