Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy K is for puppies from 8 - 16 weeks old. This is a critical period in your pup's life to be exposed to the wide range of behavior motor patterns exhibited by different dogs. It is also an important time to introduce them to novel people or situations so they begin to learn about the world. Don't let vaccination fears keep your puppy home, bring them to our safe, clean indoor facility to interact with other puppies and people.

Self-Imposed Self-Control

This is our foundation class for all the other skills we teach. You will be introduced to the Third Way training system and begin to learn how to get your dog to pay attention to you, control their body/enthusiasm, and relinquish distractions in the environment. In addition you will learn how to use food appropriately and how to communicate effectively with your dog. All new students are required to attend at least 2 sessions.

Leash Walking

Walking comfortably on leash is a highly complex skill for our dogs to learn. They need to understand where the heel position is and how to find it as well as have the self-discipline not to lunge ahead or stop in their tracks at every distraction. We'll teach you and your dog the games and skills you need to enjoy your walks together.

Come When Called

People either seem to take come when called for granted or get totally frustrated that their dog won't do it. Either way it's important to approach it as a skill your dog must learn, not a given they should automatically know. Just because your puppy comes to you most of the time doesn't mean they "know" to come. We use fun games and props to teach them just what we mean when we call them.

Home Manners

Home manners refer to that set of skills that all well mannered dogs have but folks don't really think about much. Front door greetings, not jumping up on people, staying in place and getting out of the way when necessary are all behaviors we can teach our dogs.

Off-Leash Skills

This is the holy grail of pet dog training. Everyone wants to be able to "trust" their dog off leash but it requires preparation and commitment from you first. Our dog training center has plenty of room to roam and play the games that prepare your dog for this responsibility.

Agility

We hope to bring you agility classes in the Spring/Summer of 2011!
